A Focus for Me in 2025
As the year wraps up, I find myself reflecting on the relationships that truly matter, the ones that remind me of who I am and why I do what I do.
I’m especially grateful for friends who see and understand me, who love me exactly where I am. They’re the kind of friends who challenge me when I need it, offer new perspectives, and, most importantly, don’t need anything from me. Every month, I spend time with my "Aries sisters." Sometimes we craft, sometimes we snack, but mostly, we just sit together. It’s a space where I don’t have to be anyone’s mother, boss, or daughter; I can just be myself. That kind of freedom is rare, and it’s something I treasure deeply.
I’m also looking forward to reconnecting with my brother, John, who’s visiting from Lisbon, Portugal. It’s been over a year since we’ve seen each other, and every visit feels significant. Losing our brother Talbott eight years ago brought John and me closer, creating a bond rooted in shared memories and understanding.
Growing up, John and I weren’t particularly close. Our seven-year age difference meant we were in very different stages of life. But now, as adults, we’ve found common ground as entrepreneurs. While he’s building his life overseas as a sommelier and writer, I’m growing Talbott Talent here in Indiana. Watching him pursue his dreams with courage and creativity has been inspiring, and it’s a reminder of the power of shared connection, even across continents.
When I think about gratitude, it always comes back to people. Relationships aren’t just part of what matters - they are what matters. I didn’t always feel this way. Years ago, I often found people frustrating, but as I’ve grown older, I’ve realized how deeply relationships shape our work, our lives, and our purpose.
This year hasn’t been without its challenges, but it’s been a time of reflection and connection. I’m grateful for the people who remind me to slow down, to listen, and to be present. Whether it’s my Aries sisters, my brother, or the incredible team and clients I work with every day, these relationships are what keep me grounded and inspired.
As we look ahead to a new year, I encourage you to think about the people who truly see you, support you, and make you better. Those relationships are worth everything.
As the year draws to a close, Leah York, President of Talbott Talent, reflects on the connections that define her personal and professional journey. From monthly gatherings with close friends she affectionately calls her "Aries sisters" to reconnecting with her brother John, visiting from Lisbon, Leah finds inspiration in relationships that challenge, support, and ground her.
