MCCOY Names Elizabeth Coit as its Executive Director

MCCOY (Marion County Commission on Youth) has named Elizabeth Coit as its new Executive Director beginning January 2024. She will succeed John Brandon, founding Executive Director, who retires at the end of this year.

Coit has devoted most of her career and personal life to serving others, either as an organizational change agent and growth-focused leader, or through her volunteerism. She has led a vibrant consulting practice serving the nonprofit sector, spent nine years as executive director and board member at Morning Dove Therapeutic Riding, Inc., and most recently served as the founding Executive Director of the Center for Applied Ethics at Marian University.

Before moving to the nonprofit and academic sectors in 2005, Coit served for over 20 years as an executive in the international financial services, health care and public service sectors including leadership roles at First Interstate Bancorp, Boston Consulting Group, Citigroup, and Conseco, Inc.

Coit holds a bachelor’s degree with honors in economics and psychology from Occidental College and an MBA from the Harvard Business School with an emphasis in strategy and finance. She earned a certificate in Strategic Leadership for Non-Profits from Harvard, and a Certificate in Fundraising Management from the IU School of Philanthropy. She holds a certificate in digital marketing from the National Marketing Association and Digital Marketing Institute.

Coit’s leadership in imagining, designing, and implementing new programs as well as navigating challenges alongside nonprofit organizations has distinguished her as a leader prepared to forge new pathways and build connections for the community.

“I am so grateful and excited to join MCCOY as they continue to support a vibrant community of young people throughout Marion County,” said Coit. “At a time when our youth are faced with more demands, more change, and more stress than ever, MCCOY’s legacy of service to youth workers and youth serving organizations needs to continue to flourish and grow. I am honored to step in and look forward to working with the talented and devoted staff and board at a critical time in our community and in MCCOY’s journey.”

With Coit taking the helm on January 3, MCCOY looks forward to an impactful year serving youth and families of Central Indiana. The Closing the Gap initiative is bringing families, educators, community leaders, and young people together to build school-community partnerships that surround families with essential resources and programs. MCCOY has been an integral part of launching the Youth Worker Well-Being Project with partners, which will bring access to telemedicine and virtual mental health services for up to 10,000 youth workers in 2024.
